K3 — Rigging a Kara II Downfill Array with KARA-DOWNK3

Connecting a Kara II downfill array to the bottom of a flown K3 array using KARA-DOWNK3. Reference: LA-K3-KARA-DOWNFILL-01. Follow in order — this is a sequential rigging procedure, not an independent checklist; steps depend on the ones before them.

Minimum 2 operators.
Flown K3 + Kara II downfill: safe limit 12 K3 + 6 Kara II / maximum 18 K3 + 6 Kara II.
Do not implement a pullback on a K3 array with a Kara II downfill.
This procedure also applies to the original Kara (not just Kara II) — refer to the Kara II owner's manual as a complement.
Prerequisites: a K3 array is prepared and raised; an array of three Kara II with 0° inter-enclosure angles is prepared and positioned under the K3 array; confirm the latches on the bottom K3 are in storage position.

Rigging the Downfill

Take out the four rigging arms on the top Kara II enclosure: lock the front rigging arms in linking position, then slide up the rear rigging arms and select the same inter-element angle (0° to 10°) as the rest of the Kara II array. Secure a KARA-DOWNK3 on top of the Kara II array, positioning the higher ledge at the rear, and secure the Kara II rigging arms inside the slits with the ball-locking pins (×4). Lower the K3 array as close as possible to the assembly without resting on it. Disconnect the rear rigging between the two top Kara II enclosures. Connect KARA-DOWNK3 to the bottom of the K3 array: rotate the top Kara II upward and secure the rear KARA-DOWNK3 tabs to the K3 rigging (risk of crushing injury — keep fingers away from the contact area between the ledge and the cabinet; risk of cable damage — disconnect any cable from the K3 bottom connector first), secure the front KARA-DOWNK3 tabs to the K3 rigging (slightly lower the K3 array if necessary), then reconnect the top Kara II at the rear to the assembly. Raise the array — do not implement a pullback on a K3 array with a Kara II downfill. Set the inter-enclosure angles — refer to the Kara II owner's manual for this step.
