K1 — Removing an Array (Caterpillar Method / De-rigging)

Landing a flown K1/K1-SB array one enclosure at a time, each onto its own K1-PLA dolly board. Reference: LA-K1-CATERPILLAR-DERIG-01. Follow in order — this is a sequential rigging procedure, not an independent checklist; steps depend on the ones before them.

Rigging accessory: K1-PLA.
Minimum 3 operators.
This is the manual's only documented de-rigging procedure — it lands each enclosure individually onto its own K1-PLA dolly board.
To remove K2 or Kara II downfill arrays first, refer to the K2 or Kara II owner's manual (not covered here — de-rig any downfill components before starting this procedure).

Setup

Lower the array to 0.3 m / 1 ft height. Secure a K1-PLA to the four bottom enclosures of the array, inserting both K1-PLA ball-locking pins on each K1-PLA. On each side of the four enclosures, pull the latch until a click is heard, with a yellow sticker becoming visible on each latch (this deactivates the auto-lock so the arms can later be released).

Landing Each Set of Four

Land the four enclosures, working one at a time from the bottom: with two people (one on each side) firmly holding the bottom enclosure by its handles, remove the two ball-locking pins securing its front and store them (the rear rigging points must remain attached to prevent the bottom enclosure from falling), then pull back the bottom enclosure while lowering the array until all four K1-PLA wheels touch the ground, then repeat for the next enclosure up until all four are on the ground and still attached by their rear rigging arms. On both sides of the four landed enclosures, remove the angle setting ball-locking pins and store them, then slide in the front rigging arm. Repeat the landing sequence (lowering, securing K1-PLA, deactivating the auto-lock, and landing each set of four) for each remaining block until all enclosures composing the array are on the ground.

Pack-down

On the K1-BUMP, remove the two rear ball-locking pins and pull the top enclosure's two rear rigging arms back into their storage locations. On all other enclosures, remove the rear ball-locking pins and pull the rear rigging arms back into their storage locations. If necessary, lower K1-BUMP until it touches the ground and remove the LA-RAK II AVB touring racks. Place K1-BUMP into K-BUMPFLIGHT using the motor.
