V/Y Series — De-rigging Tops

Safely de-rigging a flown V8/V12 or Y8/Y12 top array back into touring carts, in sets of up to four cabinets. Reference: VY-MAN-DERIG-TOPS-01. Follow in order.

Setup

Prepare the touring cart and position it near the array (de-rigging works in sets of up to four loudspeakers). Remove the safety pin of the uppermost box in the set to be de-rigged (the fourth box from the bottom).

Landing the First Set

Grab the bottom of the array and lift it slightly to take the load off the remaining splay pin, then pull it out. Position the touring cart directly beneath the suspended array. Undo the remaining rear safety pins on the lower part of the array, making sure to immediately place each of them into a free hole. Lower the motor and guide the array safely down into the touring cart. Carefully continue lowering the array to disengage the front links until they are completely load-free.

Repeat & Pack Down

Separate the landed stack from the rest of the suspended array, then roll the loaded cart clear and repeat the procedure for the next set of boxes. For the final stack, lower and guide the array into the cart until the back of the flying frame comes to rest on the uppermost box. Stow the rear hook of the flying frame. Disengage the flying frame from the uppermost box and pack it back into its case.
