V/Y Series — Rigging Subwoofers

Rigging a flown V-SUB or Y-SUB subwoofer array. Reference: VY-MAN-RIG-SUB-01. Follow in order.

Frame Extraction & First Sub

Extract the flying frame from the case using the chain motor, utilizing a hoist connector chain to prevent the chain bag from resting on the frame. Place the first subwoofer on the ground and prepare its front links (for V-SUB: remove locking pins, extend links, secure lower pin in lowest hole; for Y-SUB: pull upper locking pin for spring-loaded extension). Lower the front of the frame onto the sub and secure it to the front links. Move the splay link on the flying frame to the rear mounting point, which is the designated attachment position for subwoofers.

Completing the Stack

Lower the rear of the frame fully onto the sub and secure the rear hook in place with the two locking pins. Bring in the next sub and prepare its front links for the desired splay angle (0° or 2.5° front splay). Lower the suspended sub onto the next cabinet, starting by aligning and connecting the front links first. Release the rear link, lower the sub fully, and secure the rear link in place.
