V/Y Series — Rigging Mixed Array

Rigging a combined subwoofer-and-tops array off a single flying point, using an intermediate flying frame between the sub and the tops. Reference: VY-MAN-RIG-MIXED-01. Follow in order.

Subwoofer Frame Setup

Extract the flying frame from the case using the chain motor and hoist connector chain. Place the subwoofer on the ground and prepare its front links for connection to the flying frame. Lower the front of the flying frame onto the subwoofer and secure it to the front links. Move the rear splay link on the flying frame to the rear mounting point, lower the frame fully onto the subwoofer, and secure the rear hook in place using two locking pins.

Second Frame Setup

Prepare a second flying frame (required to mount top cabinets underneath subwoofers) by installing the two additional front links stored on the frame. At the rear of the second flying frame, release the pin that holds the cable pick in place. Release the rear link of the suspended subwoofer and attach it to the rear of the second flying frame with two pins.

Building the Tops

Lift and attach the front of the second flying frame to the suspended subwoofer. Position the touring cart of preconfigured line array tops underneath, and connect the front links to the bottom of the second flying frame. Lift the array slightly to pull the boxes out of the touring cart, then insert the rear safety pins into the lower three boxes of the stack. Release the rear splay link of the second flying frame, manually lift the rear of the line array boxes into place, and secure the hang with a safety pin.
